Cecret Lake

Cecret Lake

I woke up early on a cool summer morning, feeling a sense of anticipation as I prepared for my hike up to Cecret Lake in Utah. As I set out on the trail, I couldn't help but think of the words of Henry David Thoreau, who wrote, "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
The hike was short but steep, and as I reached the top, I was greeted by a breathtaking view of Cecret Lake. The lake was still and calm, perfectly reflecting the cliffs in the background. Randy Hines's black and white fine art piece titled "Dark Cecret" captured the essence of the lake with its rugged beauty and raw power.
Cecret Lake is located in the Albion Basin within the Wasatch National Forest. It is a protected watershed for Salt Lake City, and its water supply comes from several hundred inches of snow each year, which lasts into July. The lake is surrounded by quartz monzonite, often mistaken for granite, and is located at 9,875 feet.
The history of the lake's name is shrouded in mystery, but some believe a miner named it in the area. Regardless of its origin, the name Cecret has a unique spelling that adds to the lake's allure and mystique. As I gazed out at the lake, I couldn't help but think about the incredible history and natural wonder surrounding me. The area around Cecret Lake has a rich mining history, with several mines in nearby mountains. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, miners came to the area for gold, silver, and other minerals. Today, the area is famous for its recreational opportunities, and the lake is a popular spot for camping, fishing, and hiking.
The lake is home to several species of fish, including rainbow trout and brook trout, making it a popular destination for anglers. The surrounding area is also home to wildlife, including mule deer, elk, and mountain goats.
This black and white photograph titled "Dark Cecret" captures the essence of this incredible natural wonder:
  1. The lake is the photograph's focal point, with its still waters reflecting the rugged cliffs in the background.
  2. The sky highlights the cliffs in a light gray, hugging them tight as you move up into the sky.
  3. It fades to a dark charcoal gray with light cumulus clouds barely holding their shape due to the high winds.

The photograph is a perfect representation of the raw power and beauty of nature.
If you're looking for a way to bring the majesty of Cecret Lake into your home or office, then "Dark Cecret" is the perfect piece for you. The photograph captures the essence of the lake, with its still waters, rugged cliffs, and ever-changing skies. It's a piece that will transport you to the heart of nature, reminding you of life's essential facts and the beauty surrounding us.
"Dark Cecret" is more than just a beautiful piece of art. It's a reminder of the importance of protecting our natural resources and preserving the beauty of the world around us.
